✨ Christmas can feel magical. And it can also be the season when old memories, emotions, and past experiences quietly resurface. Your nervous system may still be holding on to things that once kept you safe but are no longer relevant to who you are now. That excess baggage you’ve been carrying? The emotional suitcase you keep “just in case”? You don’t need it anymore. It isn’t serving the version of you that exists today. To make space for the good stuff, something has to be released. Think about being on holiday, spotting something you absolutely love, only to realise your luggage allowance is already maxed out. It’s the same with past trauma. ✨ Friday Mindset Musings and yes I've taken advantage of the AI style trend 😂 Another week done, and if I’m honest, it’s felt a little frantic in places. The run-up to Christmas has a way of piling on extra pressure and extra workload, doesn’t it? Before you ask… no, I’m not Christmas ready. I never have been the long-range planning type, and I suspect that’s not about to change now. There seems to be a lot of should-dos and must-dos floating around at this time of year, and it's tiring. That said, I’ve definitely embraced the festive spirit in my own way, local Christmas markets ✔️ Mince pies ✔️ And yes… the Baileys has already been opened ✔️ I've been busy preparing some exciting things to come in both life and business in 2026. And part of that has involved me finding more time at my laptop than I would like but I've had an awful lot of help thanks to Jonathan Gwyer fairly marvellous CIC for all the website additions this week. Today is Martins birthday, so we’re heading out for an early dinner, timing it perfectly before the grandchildren get too cranky. Life logistics at their finest. This morning also brought something I really value: informal networking, support and connection with a lovely group of therapists from Kent Wellness Connections Conversations flowed, ideas sparked ready to move us forward with purpose in 2026 😁 And speaking of collaboration… I’ve teamed up with the wonderful Tracy Fensome to bring you something very special in April. An event rooted in less hustle, more joy, deeper connection and real clarity. We’ll be sharing more early in the new year and trust me, this is one you won’t want to miss. With just six sleeps to Christmas, I suppose it’s time for me to turn my attention to wrapping, organising and festive prep. But here’s today’s gentle reminder Christmas is a time of giving and that includes giving to yourself. You don’t have to sacrifice your sanity to make everything magical. 💫Give freely what you can. 💫Keep some headspace just for you. 💫Allow moments of stillness. You’ve done the work this year. You started the healthier lifestyle. You journaled. You practised positive thinking. You read the books, listened to the podcasts, repeated the affirmations. And yet by lunchtime you’re holding your breath again. Relying on coffee to get through the afternoon. Feeling overwhelm quietly creep back in. You have good days. Bad days. And days where you’re simply surviving. It’s exhausting. And to make it worse, it looks like everyone else is smashing life while you’re wondering what’s wrong with you. I want to be very clear here ✨ You are not broken. ✨ No one is thriving 100% of the time. The difference isn’t that some people work harder on themselves. It’s that they’ve changed what’s happening beneath the surface. If your subconscious is still running outdated programmes, guilt, shame, fear, “not good enough” then no amount of journaling or positive thinking can fully override them. Those old patterns were created to keep you safe. But now they’re shaping your reactions, your confidence, your energy… and quietly blocking opportunities you can’t even see yet. Journaling, vision boards, awareness, they all help. But for many people, there’s still a missing piece. That’s where my 3-session Control System programme comes in. 🌿 Friday Mindset Musings Why December Feels Louder Emotionally If you’ve found yourself feeling a little more sensitive, reactive, teary, or short-tempered lately, you’re not imagining it and you’re not failing at coping. December has a way of compressing a whole year’s worth of emotions into a few short weeks. The weather suddenly gets colder, the days are really short and though Christmas should feel magical, for some its also a lot of extra work. We’re tired. Our nervous systems are already stretched. And then we layer on family dynamics, expectations, memories, finances, social pressure and the unspoken idea that we should all be feeling joyful and grateful. Old roles can quietly resurface around family. Unresolved dynamics get activated. And when our capacity is low, emotions sit much closer to the surface. That doesn’t mean anything has gone wrong. It means your system is responding to load, not weakness. This time of year asks a lot of us, often without much space to pause or process. So if emotions feel louder than usual, try being kind to yourself. You don’t need to hold it all together. You don’t need to react perfectly. You don’t need to fix anyone else. Gentleness is a strength. Rest is not indulgent. And responding softly to yourself can change the tone of everything else. People pleasers are so wrapped up in trying to make everyone else's Christmas go smoothly they burn out. Remember you can so no. You don’t have to be the hostess with the mostest this year. Its okay to have a chilled Christmas hunkering down at home or equally okay to party right through the Christmas period. Today Martin and I had a day off. Our work life balance hasn’t been great and we are frazzled, so off to the Christmas markets we went with the grandkids and we joined in all the fun of the fair. Sometimes you just need to let your inner child out to play. So my message to you is Be kind to your nervous system this weekend 🤍 It’s been carrying a lot. Debbie xo

✨Friday Mindset Musings Your Final Chapter of 2025 ⭐ December always feels like the final chapter of a book we’ve been writing all year. Facebook keeps giving me little reminders of what I was doing this time last year, memories pop up, little snapshots of who we were this time last year. When I look back at mine, I’m always reminded not just of what I was doing, but of how I was feeling. The hopes I carried, the achievements I made, the things I was trying to overcome, the promises I made to myself that this year I would make changes. Every year has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Some chapters were beautiful. Some were messy, others were sad at times. Some taught us lessons we never asked for but probably needed. And now here we are in December. A month that can feel magical, stressful, joyful, overwhelming and exhausting, often all at once. For many of us, working mums this chapter includes: Lists to organise Questions about how to afford everything, family dynamics to juggle. The pressure to make everyone happy while quietly sliding ourselves to the bottom of the list And despite what the Christmas movies try to sell us, not every story wraps up with a perfect bow, a glowing tree, and a miraculous happy ending. Although I will still watch all the movies every year and love the magic of the stories. For most of us though that is unrealistic, life can feel a lot harder but here are my tips for handling this busy season. You can rewrite the narrative inside your own mind. We can’t control the behaviour of others or negative Nora’s comments, not other people’s moods, not their reactions or decisions. But we can choose our responses. We can set boundaries. We can decide what we say yes to and what we say no to. We can protect our peace without apology. This is your story. Your final chapter of 2025. And you are not here to play the victim in your own life. There is still time. Time to reflect, time to reset, time to close the year with courage, compassion and honesty. No, your December may not look like a Christmas special where everyone has a sudden change of heart. But you can end this chapter with self-kindness, with forgiveness for yourself, and with a renewed sense of direction. Because happiness isn’t something that others hand to you, It’s something you cultivate, nourish, and choose. So as we enter these last few weeks, ask yourself: How do I want this final chapter to feel? What do I want to release? What do I want to carry forward into 2026? You are the author of this story. 🌿 Friday Mindset Musings Confidence – more complex than it looks This is a throw back picture of me speaking at an event wearing my glittery cloak of confidence. And this week I’ve been working with clients on their confidence – not because I’m confident at everything, but because I’m confident we can change perspective and break old thought patterns. Confidence isn’t a straight line. It wobbles. It dips. It comes and goes. What you see on the surface is rarely the full story. We weren’t born doubting ourselves. We cried, knowing our needs would be met. We took our first steps, fell over, got back up – and were cheered on for trying. Over time, comments, comparisons and “not quite good enough” moments can chip away at how we feel about ourselves. But nobody is naturally brilliant at everything. Confidence grows where we give it attention, practice and patience. Here’s the bit we often skip past: Confidence is rooted in self-care. If you’re exhausted, overwhelmed or running on empty, feeling confident is an uphill battle. So start small: ✨ Nourish your body ✨ Get proper rest ✨ Build tiny habits that support you ✨ Do one thing today that moves you a step forward Some days confidence is a roar. Other days it’s a quiet whisper: “I’m tired, but I’m still showing up.” On the days I don’t feel on my best game, I put on my cloak of confidence, get out there, and give it my best shot anyway. 🔔 Is Your Internal Alarm Bell Constantly Ringing? Anxiety is the number one reason most clients come to me. It chips away at confidence, disrupts sleep, affects relationships and for many women, it starts to feel like part of their identity. Anxiety may be in the spotlight right now but it is not your whole story. It’s a natural emotion, one designed to keep you safe. It’s the internal crew member whose job is to ring the alarm when your house is on fire or to alert you to the fact you’ve got a 6am flight to catch. When it becomes a problem. The alarm starts going off all the time even when there’s no danger. Daily life becomes a series of emotional fire drills and it’s exhausting. What we don’t do is ignore it or numb it. The pharmaceutical industry have made millions trying that and it hasn't solved your problem it's created more. What we do instead is get to the root cause and retrain that overworked crew member so it can rest, and so your other emotional crew, joy, calm, confidence, excitement — can finally be heard again. ✨ Imagine waking up and scanning for what feels good, instead of searching for what could go wrong. ✨ Imagine turning the volume down on anxiety so it only steps in when it’s genuinely needed, e.g Bear attacks or tsunamis ✨ Imagine feeling more present, more balanced, more YOU. ✨ Friday Mindset Musings Coldest Friday of the year so far 🥶 and an early start for me meeting up with some lovely new wellbeing and business buddies in Maidstone, to support each other, collaborate and share good practice😁 The events of this week gave me an unexpected little mindset workout. You know those moments, something small lands in your world and gives you that tiny internal jolt. Not a meltdown or a spiral, just a “hmm… that didn’t feel great.” For me, it was a harmless bit of WhatsApp group banter that mentioned “red pen.” On the surface, no big deal. But it nudged an old memory, the kind that sits quietly in the body until something presses its button. And here’s the interesting part, instead of reacting how I might’ve years ago, I noticed it, breathed, reflected, and moved on. That’s growth. That’s mindset work in action. But it also reminded me of something powerful: Our early experiences shape us far more than we realise. A careless comment. A school report phrase. A tone that lands the wrong way. These things plant seeds that can keep showing up decades later, even when we think we’ve outgrown them. The gift in my little “red pen moment” was this: It made me even more conscious of the language we use with others, especially children, students, and clients. Before we critique, correct or offer guidance, we can choose to encourage first. A simple “well done” or “thank you for trying” can transform confidence. We are all doing our best, learning as we go, navigating life with our own invisible history. And if we can be the person who makes someone feel capable, supported, or proud of themselves… what a privilege that is. So my lesson this week wasn’t “must try harder.” It was this: Try harder to encourage. Try harder to offer more kindness than critique. Try harder to cheerlead, not just for others, but for myself too. Because life has enough critics. Let’s be the ones who create confidence instead. ⭐ This weeks Mindset Musings After a busy varied week and a revamp of my treatment room with some lovely new furniture (pics to follow when complete) the events of the week have reinforced my belief mindset is everything. There’s a beautiful old poem by Frederick Langbridge that says: “Two people look out through the same bars: One sees the mud, and one the stars.” Two people can face the same situation, the same challenge, even the same setback, yet walk away feeling completely different. One feels stuck. The other sees possibility. One feels the weight. The other senses the opportunity. Not because the problem changed but because their focus did. This week I’ve seen this play out with clients, students, and even with my own family. Different circumstances same choice: 🔸 Do I stare at what’s wrong? 🔸 Or do I look for what’s possible? This isn’t about pretending everything is perfect. It’s about choosing the perspective that helps you move forward rather than freeze in place. Your brain will always find evidence for whatever you look for. That’s how the RAS (Reticular Activating System) works it filters the world according to what you tell it is important. Tell it to find stress it will. Tell it to find hope, solutions, calm, it will find that too. So today, ask yourself gently: ✨ What am I looking at? The mud or the stars? ✨ What would shift if I moved my gaze just a little? ✨ What becomes possible when I choose a different lens? Wherever you are today, know this: You always have the power to shift your focus and when you do, the whole world softens, opens, and expands in front of you. Stars are there, even on the muddy days. 💭 Friday Mindset Musings How you tell it's winter incoming? My 4 pets have gone into hibernation mode and all piled on the bed together 🤦 This week the clocks have gone back, we gain an hour they said. Nope my body clock is having none of it. I’m going to bed an hour later but still waking up at the same time, which means I’m now running willpower. It’s been one of those busy weeks where many of my lovely friends and colleagues have had to make do with voice notes or quick texts instead of proper catch-ups on Zoom or in person. And it got me thinking, is technology helping us stay connected in a more personal way, or are we slowly losing the art of an actual conversation? For me, voice notes have been a total lifesaver. The second I think “Ooh, I must tell them this!” I can just grab my phone, press record, and send it before the thought escapes into the void (which it usually does within about 30 seconds). Unlike a text, a voice note gives me tone, emotion, and often a giggle, plus I get to actually listen instead of my excitable brain interrupting halfway through. And when it’s my turn to reply, I can do so without anyone jumping in (a rare treat for a natural chatterbox like me). Anyone who knows me knows a “quick call” can last several hours and cover at least four different topics. we often start with one subject and end up halfway round the world via three three different tangents. I feel like I’ve spoken to Helen Ward all week, but on reflection, it’s been entirely through voice notes 🤦♀️ (we could probably record a podcast at this point). When I need to vent, share an idea, celebrate something small, or just say “you’ll never believe what’s just happened,” so voice notes have become my go-to. Of course, nothing beats a proper in-person catch-up, but for now, technology is helping bridge those miles between us keeping me connected. As with everything in life, it’s about balance. 🌿 Friday Mindset Musings Work–life balance, do we ever really get it right? I’m especially talking to my fellow business owners and female entrepreneurs here. A couple of weeks ago, I spoke at a business event and was additionally asked to join a panel on work–life balance. Nothing prepared, so I spoke from the heart and told stories (my favourite way to share). I remembered coming home after a hectic first week back at college, exhausted, and snapping at my 5-year-old who just wanted my attention. “Do you know what kind of day I’ve had?” I said. Then I caught myself. She didn’t need to, she just needed me. Martin also runs a busy business, but his Grandad Wednesdays with the kids are non-negotiable. Work calls are kept short, family always comes first because those little moments matter most. I had a bit of a heckler 🤦 Another business coach also speaking at that event, said he’d answer client calls at 1 a.m. and once worked solidly for nine months before taking off on a solo 3 month motorbike road trip, leaving his wife and kids at home. For him, that was balance. And that’s the point it’s different for everyone. But here’s what I know for sure: if you don’t make time to rest, to laugh, to play, your body and mind will eventually force you to. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Answering calls at 1am puts your whole body into fight or flight mode and I guarantee your clients will not get the best version of you but your body will hold the score. Maybe your family doesn’t need more stuff, they just need you. It's about prioritising your needs and balancing those needs with you families. ✨Now your turn: How do you find balance in the juggle of business, family and self-care?
