From Panic to Purpose: Rewriting the Inner Script

Hi I would like to re introduce myself, I’m Debbie Allen -The Thought Alchemist- Educator, Speaker, and Mindcoach.

I’m also joint CEO of just Fabulous Training and Coaching because we believe everyone deserves to feel Fabulous.

As a coach I help people quiet the constant noise of anxiety, overwhelm, and low self-esteem so they can show up in their lives with confidence, balance, and joy, thriving in their careers and creating more income without sacrificing themselves in the process.

But I want to be honest with you: I didn’t always have the tools I have now and there have been times in my life where I just felt like a bloody mess and a failure.

The Confidence I Thought I’d Lost

I may have been born confident — we all are. But somewhere along the way, I stopped believing I was enough.

Early childhood experiences, school days filled with self-doubt, and constant messages — spoken or not — that I was a disappointment, all chipped away at my self-esteem. Slowly, quietly, I became someone who pretended I had it together… while feeling completely the opposite inside.

Then with adulthood came fertility struggles. Chronic illness. Later a business partnership that slowly eroded my sense of self. And because I was a people-pleaser who hated confrontation but had to also be a grown up and go there, I got ill and remained stuck for far too long — enabling a toxic situation that drained me emotionally and physically. Eventually, I ended up with insomnia, anxiety, and was becoming depressed. I didn’t like who I’d become.

It felt like I was spiralling. Lost in a loop of survival mode, just trying to get through each day. I couldn’t see past the anxiety, the what if’s and I felt like I was drowning.

The Shift

Fast forward to today… and I’m still standing. Stronger. Wiser. Human.

Let me be clear, I’m not a “fixed” version of myself. I haven’t eliminated anxiety or miraculously cured my chronic illness. I still have tough days and life will always throw some curveballs. But here’s the difference:

  • I’ve learned how to respond.
  • I’ve learned how to reset.
  • And I’ve reprogrammed the internal beliefs that once held me hostage.

See, anxiety isn’t the enemy. It’s actually a valid emotion, a signal. But when that signal goes into overdrive — when our nervous system kicks into fight-or-flight at the slightest threat — that’s when it becomes a problem. We’re not meant to live in survival mode 24/7. We’re not actually being chased by a bear — but our body reacts like we are.

The way it feels is not the way it is.
That’s what I remind my clients and myself every day.

We’re Not Broken — We’re Wired and need a little help

Most of us are walking around with outdated programming. Scripts that were installed in childhood or reinforced in toxic environments. And unless we pause and examine those beliefs, we keep living out the same limiting patterns:

  • I’m not good enough.
  • I can’t cope
  • What if it all goes wrong?

Sound familiar?

What I now know and what I teach — is this:
You are not broken. You’ve just been believing a story that no longer serves you.
And like any story, it can be rewritten.

My Life Now

Today, I consider myself lucky to be a mum and a grandmum. I left that damaging partnership and built something better. I created a career that supports my health, not fights against it. I have tools and practices that keep me grounded. Most importantly, I’ve learned to have compassion for the younger version of me — the girl who didn’t feel safe, who needed reassurance and never got it.

I still carry her with me, but now I remind her:
We made it. We’re okay. We’ve got this.

If This Sounds Like You…

If you’ve ever caught yourself spiralling, overthinking, procrastinating, self-sabotaging…
If your inner voice is louder than your intuition…
If anxiety has become your unwanted companion…
Then I want you to hear this:

  • You are not stuck.
  • You can rewire your mind.
  • You do have the power to change.

Here are a Few Steps to Get You Started

 1. Take action, even if it’s small.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just don’t stay frozen. Action builds momentum.

2. Recognise you are human.
Anxiety, fear, overwhelm — these aren’t signs you’re broken. They’re signs you need something. Rest. Help. Support.

3. Focus on what’s within your control.
You can’t control the news. Or other people’s drama. But you can control what you eat, when you rest, how you breathe, what you say yes or no to.

4. Regulate before you react.
Anxiety thrives on depletion. Before you do anything else, check in with your body: Are you hydrated? Fed? Rested? Start there.

5. Seek the right support.
Sometimes we can’t see the way forward because we’re too close to the problem. That’s where I come in.

As a mindcoach, I help you get out of the loop. We look at where you are, where you want to go, and we bridge the gap — together.

Final Thought

We all have a younger version of ourselves that just wanted to be seen, to feel safe, to believe we were enough. I want you to know you still are.

This isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about remembering who you’ve always been underneath the noise.

You can change. You can thrive.
And if you need someone in your corner — I’m here.

Let’s rewrite your story together.
